Facebook Feature Request: Daily Updates
As far as social networking goes, Facebook is one the best out there. It has a huge feature set, can be extended by apps, and almost everyone I know has one. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t areas for improvement.
I honestly hate getting emails every time something occurs. Someone tagged me in a post or a photo, someone wants me to join Farmville or Mafia Wars, they think I’m a family member, etc, etc, and etc! I have over 5000 Facebook notifications in my Gmail (yeah, I don’t delete anything). It gets a little overwhelming.
Facebook, how about an option to subscribe to daily, weekly, or even monthly updates, instead of alerting me 500 times a day? Please?
Does anyone out there agree?

I think you make a valid point, but some of us that go day-to-day without meaningful human interaction require the vibration of our smart phones from facebook notifications to remind us that we are alive and that someone, somewhere is doing something that somehow pertains to us.
I actually found this page ‘cos I did a Google search for “FaceBook feature requests”. Anyway, it’s pretty easy to disable getting emails and such.
Just go to your Account Settings, and in the Notifications tab, you can check or uncheck email notifications. I personally have everything unchecked.
I hope that’s what you’re looking for.
Not really, but thank you for the suggestion. What I want is basically a digest. I don’t want 200 notifications a day, just one would suffice. If I didn’t get the notifications, I would probably never check Facebook unless I was bored, so I would miss any activity that directly related to me :P
Thanks for the reply!
Oh, ok… I see what you mean. Yea, that would be a cool feature.
